Wildflower Service and Therapy Dogs

At Wildflower Havanese, we take pride in our dogs' abilities to serve the community as both therapy dogs and service dogs. While therapy dogs provide comfort and support to people in various settings, service dogs are trained to assist individuals with specific disabilities or medical conditions in their daily activities.

Our dogs work with the Delta Service Society and the Read Aloud program, providing emotional support and assistance to those in need. These dogs' sweet nature and unique skills make them excellent candidates for service dog training, where they can be trained to perform tasks that help individuals with disabilities live more independently.

Unlike therapy dogs, service dogs are trained to work with one specific person for a particular ailment or disability. These dogs undergo extensive training to perform tasks such as guiding the blind, alerting the deaf, or assisting individuals with mobility issues. Service dogs are trained to be well-behaved and responsive to their handler's needs. Our Havanese have a great foundation to pursue this training.

At Wildflower Havanese, we believe that every dog has the potential to make a positive impact in their community. Paco, one of our therapy dogs, works at Children's Hospital Colorado, bringing comfort and joy to patients and their families. We are proud of our dogs' accomplishments and their ability to serve as both therapy and service dogs in their respective fields.

Wildflower Performance Dogs - Fast CAT®

Fast CAT®, which stands for Coursing Ability Test, is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. The lure is a plastic bag strung on a pully system, and the dogs chase it in a straight line within a fenced area.

We love the activity out in the open air and sunshine, and getting to see our dogs perform with such heart and enthusiasm. Race days are a lot of fun for people and dogs alike. Seeing formerly-stuffy show dogs whip down the course chasing a plastic bag with gusto is a sight to behold.

Wildflower dogs have thrived in this sport. Below are our dogs’ national rankings among Havanese as of March, 2023:
